2012 Beijing Auto Show in Pics - ZXAUTO Crossover

ZXAUTO Crossover - According to Zhongxing Auto (ZXAUTO), its all-new crossover, "Dushi Fangzhou" (which literally means "Urban Ark") was inspired by Toyota’s "urban cruiser," although many see it an imitator of Kia Soul. Combining features of a SUV and hatchback, Dushi Fangzhou represents the SUV- and pickup-maker’s first attempt at the mainstream passenger car market.

Sitting on a 2500mm wheelbase, the crossover is 4142mm long, 1761mm wide, and 1640mm high. It has a ground clearance of 180mm. The powertrain features a Mitsubishi 1.5 liter (77kw/6000rpm and 141Nm/4500rpm) and a 5-speed manual gearbox. On market launch scheduled in the fourth quarter of 2012, only 2WD models will be available, selling for 70,000 – 90,000 Yuan. 4WD ones are said to come later.

Dushi Fangzhou will be produced in Zhongxing’s new factory in Yichang, Hubei. The automaker targets to sell 25,000 units of it in the first year.

The Haval H7 mid-size SUV is the mass-production model of the Haval SC60 concept, which was first showcased at Auto China 2010 in Shanghai. Projected to arrive in showrooms in 2013, it will become Great Wall’s new flagship SUV.

With a 2915mm wheelbase, the show car is 4788mm long, 1931mm wide, and 1815mm high. It has a ground clearance of 210mm. The full-time 4WD SUV features double-wishbone front and multi-link rear suspension. For powertrain, it gets a turbo-charged 2.0 liter (GW4C20, 160kW/5500rpm and 314Nm/1800-4400rpm) and a 6-speed auto transmission.

Flying car concept from Volkswagen fulfills sci-fi fantasies

Flying cars are a common site in sci-fi movies. The floating auto has won hearts of many science fiction fanatics. Be it the glass bubble from "The Jetsons" or the cab from "The Fifth Element," all these autos have mesmerized audiences for long now. Another runaway hit in this realm were the super duper flying cars from "Back to the Future II" that dash around on airborne roadways. Some designs show flying cars, also known as hovercars, soaring high up in the air while other models drift just a few inches above the ground. However, with claims that the car can be manufactured in actuality too, people are waiting eagerly for the concept to roll out.

So, Volkswagen thought of creating a prototype of this futuristic car model. Dubbed as the "The People’s Car Project", the company invited people to design their car of the future. A young girl from Chengdu city, who is actually a student of gaming design and animation, came up with a brilliant concept. Her design bagged the contest and the prototype crafted was turned into a video. You can check it out below.

Volkswagen floating car

The car basically has a spherical shape with space for two people inside. It has no wheel and floats a few inches above the ground. The image of the car floating in the middle of the street, when other autos are running on the road, is absolutely amazing. Circular glass discs have been fitted on the two ends of the car and an elongated glass panel has been fixed at the front. The glass and metal bubble looks utterly stupendous.

The concept car utilizes magnetic force to float in middle of the air. A magnetic suspension system is used in most of these designs, but the mechanism is not very stable, and hence wide scale implementation of the cars is not possible. Some of the models also make use of repulsion technology, which is basically a type of short range anti-gravity principle, to whizz around smoothly in mid air.

Beijing Auto Show features many boobs - Girls sexy and cars

(Li Yingzhi, Gan Lulu, Liu Yan, Others): Beijing is in spotlight these days, as automakers from home and abroad roll out their newest production cars and concepts in Auto China 2012, the leading auto show in the country that boasts the world’s most promising automotive markets.

But perhaps the organizer and the participating sellers are not confident enough about enthusiasm of potential car buyers in China, or they simply wish to drum up as much publicity as possible, they have employed the infallible trick: hiring sexy, busty, and in some cases, thinly clothed girls to pose with luxury car models. Li Yuan, senior editor of Wall Street Journal China, wrote on Sina Weibo, “My American colleague who went to Beijing Auto Show for the first time told me that the permissiveness of the car girls is imaginable in car shows in Detroit.”
