Deadly Ferrari crash caused by Sichuan rich man angers Singaporean public

Recently, the anti-foreigners sentiments have been whipped up among the Singaporean locals, after a horrific accident involving a Ferrari, a taxi and a motorcycle, which killed three people. On the Singaporean online space, there were many voices of driving out expats from Mainland, China.
Reportedly, The accident occurred in the early hours of May 12′s morning in Singapore, when a luxury red Ferrari ran a red night at high speed to smash head-on into the side of a taxi at the junction of Rochor Road and Victoria Street. The Ferrari driver, Ma Chi, 31 years old, was pronounced dead right at the scene, while the female passenger in the Ferrari, in her 20s, and the cab driver, in his 50s, died later in the hospital due to serious injuries.
Ma Chi was from Sichuan Province, working as a financial investor. He first came to Singapore four years ago with his wife and child, and was now applying for permanent residency in Singapore.
It was said Ma Chi’s wife, Ting Ting, was surprised to know there was a young lady in her husband’s car, and wanted to know the lady’s identity, who was said to be from Japan.
The accident prompted Singaporean netizens to attack their government’s immigration policy, which they said have made Singapore “crowded and dangerous,” and to call expats from Chinese Mainland as “the rich locusts” as an insult.

China Auto Show: CH-Auto's Lithia Electric Sports Car Prototype

Visitors to the 2012 Beijing International Auto Show will no doubt take notice of CH-Auto's Lithia sports car concept.



The sharply styled prototype that comes with a hint of Audi R8 on its profile makes use of an electric motor fed by a set of lithium-ion batteries, said to offer a maximum driving range of around 150 kilometers (93 miles).
Just in case you're wondering, CH-Auto is an automotive R&D service company that was founded in China in 2003. Since 2010, its design division is headed by former GM design manager Dan Darancou who had worked on several GM projects in the past including the Buick Invicta concept.

Hongqi Debuts Flagship L7 and H7 Sedans at the Beijing Auto Show

No Chinese auto show is complete without a reference to Hongqi (Red Flag), one of the oldest nameplates in the country and at one time, the only brand for the domestic political elite.
At the Auto China 2012 in Beijing, Hongqi presented two new models, the flagship L7 showcar and the production ready H7 sedan, while its parent company First Automobile Works (FAW) laid out a new five-year investment plan for the brand.
The most impressive model at Hongqi's stand is without doubt the L7, a throwback to the days of the Cold War when the company produced China's state limousines.
As with Hongqi's previous flagship limousine concept, the HQD from 2005, there's a V12 engine located behind the brazen 1950's style front end. The 6.0-liter mill is said to produce a little over 400-horses.
The other model premiered by Hongqi is the H7 full-size luxury sedan that's based on the running gear of the Chinese market Toyota Crown. The H7 is described as Hongqi's answer to the long-wheelbase versions of the BMW 5-Series, Audi A6 and Mercedes-Benz E-Class and is said to be offered with a turbocharged 2.0-liter straight four, two V6 engines, and possibly a PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle).
At the Beijing show, FAW also announced plans to invest 10.5 billion Yuan (US$1.67 billion) in the next five years to reshape Hongqi and develop a new lineup of four models including two SUVs.
