Steven Tyler car_Aerosmith frontman and "American Idol" judge Steven Tyler is the proud owner of a brand new, $1.1 million Hennessey Venom GT Spyder sports carThe Spyder is incredibly rare, with only five such vehicles built for the 2013 model year, and it boasts more than 1,200 horsepower, making it go from 0 to 200 mph in 15.9 secondsSteven Tyler, the lead singer of legendary American rock band Aerosmith and American Idol judge, is known for his flamboyant demeanor on and off stage.
Apparently, offstage, that includes his taste in cars.
According to Top Gear, Steven Tyler just took delivery of the very first Hennessey Venom GT Spyder. The big-lipped singer got the first of just five cars that will be built this year.
This is one car that is as fast as it looks. The Lotus Exige-based Venom ditches the Toyota engine and has a 1,244 horsepower twin-turbo V8. The car also weighs just 2,743 pounds. You read that right. The power-to-weight ratio is insane.
The car can get to 200 MPH in 16 seconds. A Smart car takes 16 seconds to reach 60 MPH.
The price tag for all of this outrageous performance? The Venom Spyder has a starting price tag in the $1.1 million range.
While it hasn't been officially certified yet, Hennessey believes that this ride could be the fastest car in the world. We're waiting to see that top speed run happen.
In other breaking news, we also now know that Steven Tyler wears sandals with socks.
Take a look at the car — and the fashion faux pas — belowYou read that right – Tyler’s Spyder is the very first in a series of five. And that’s not the only thing that makes it impressive: Steven Tyler’s car has a 1,244 horsepower twin-turbo V8 and can reach a speed of 200 miles per hour in just 16 seconds. Also of interest to car buffs is the vehicle’s surprisingly light weight: At 2,743 pounds, it has a very impressive ratio of power to weight. As if that weren’t enough to justify the $1.1 million base price, the people at Hennessey are claiming that the new Venom GT Spyder could also be the new fastest car in the world. That’s yet to be officially certified, but they must have a lot of confidence in their machine to make such a bold claimIf the Spyder really.
is going to earn the title of the fastest car in the world, it will have to beat a top speed of 267.857 miles per hour – a record held by the Bugatti Veyron, which is a popular car of choice among rich and famous automobile enthusiasts. If the same fate awaits the Spyder, then all those rappers and other musical competition show judges will have to get in line, since as I mentioned earlier there are only five Spyders coming off the production line this year. So if you’re interested in cars, keep your eyes peeled for that definitive top speed run..After a "casual business lunch" at Pink Taco this week, Aerosmith frontman and American Idol judge Steven Tyler took Born To Die singer Lana Del Rey back to his car…

“We had to make a few structural changes to our integrated rollcage in order to be able to fit the removable top,” John Hennessey, the car’s creator and owner of Hennessey Performance Engineering, told Yahoo! Autos.“This increased the weight of our vehicle by about 30 pounds to a curb weight of 2743 pounds (1244 kilograms). We decided to increase the Venom GT's power to 1244 bhp to maintain our 1 horsepower per 1 kilogram power to weight ratio."Tyler’s sleek and angled two-door black roadster can accelerate faster than any other vehicle, maxing out at 275 mph and beating Bugatti’s Veyron by 8 mph.
Basic versions cost $950,000, but the rock star’s rendition crossed the million dollar mark due to his removable hardtop roof. Additionally, the car had to be reformed to meet his request for a 7.0-liter, twin-turbo V8 engine.
Tyler’s new toy adds to a prosperous year for the musician. He just completed his duties serving as judge on the eleventh season of “American Idol,” and now prepares to go on the road with Aerosmith for their summer “Global Warming Tour.”
